Janet Smith Holbrook represents banks, financial institutions, and other creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in West Virginia and Kentucky and in matters, including: Receivership, foreclosure, attachment, workouts, claim and delivery, relief from the automatic stay, and assignments for the benefit of creditors. Ms. Holbrook’s peers recognized her accomplishments by naming her to the list of The Best Lawyers in America © for Bankruptcy Law and Creditor Rights.
Ms. Holbrook is also a Chapter 7 panel trustee for the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and a member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. As a panel trustee, Ms. Holbrook has handled over 20,000 bankruptcy matters involving a wide array of issues.
She is a Charter Member of the West Virginia Chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Federation, a Member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and a Member of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.
Prior to joining Huddleston Bolen, Ms. Holbrook was the Director of Banking for the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions. Ms. Holbrook has extensive experience in regulatory compliance, commercial transactions, commercial litigation, and other issues affecting banks and financial institutions.
Ms. Holbrook is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. She attended Agnes Scott College and graduated with distinction in business administration from the University of Kentucky. She is active in various community matters and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ashland, Kentucky.
