PRACTICE GROUPS AND INDUSTRY AREAS
Bruce L. Stout is a partner in the firm of Huddleston Bolen LLP and practices in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation. Mr. Stout has been a lawyer with Huddleston Bolen since 1982.
Mr. Stout, an Ohio native, attended The Ohio State University and received his B.A. cum laude degree in 1979. He received his J.D. degree from The Ohio State University in 1982.
Mr. Stout has been recognized for several years in The Best Lawyers in America. He has also been named by West Virginia Super Lawyers and was named by Best of the U.S., LLC as "Best of Class" attorney in the nation in the areas of taxation, wills, estates, and trusts.
Mr. Stout is active in many legal organizations and committees. He is a member and past president of the Huntington Estate Planning Council, member and former chairman of the West Virginia State Bar Probate Committee, member of the West Virginia Law Institute on Intestate Succession, and a fellow and former State Chairman of the American College of Trust and Estate Council. Mr. Stout is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Committee of the American Bar Association which deals with recent legislation and recent probate and trust court decisions.
In addition to serving in numerous legal organizations and committees, Mr. Stout has served as an expert witness in several trust and estate cases, has acted as speaker at numerous continuing education seminars, and has written various articles and publication updates. Mr. Stout also publishes the West Virginia Probate Newsletter established in 1997 and recently published his first book, "Estate Planning in West Virginia Real Answers to Real Questions," as well as a chapter entitled "The Estate Tax and Beyond: Current Concerns and Challenges" in the book, "Inside the Minds: Estate Planning Client Strategies, 2010 ed." published by Aspatore Books.
Mr. Stout served as instructor of the paralegal program at Marshall University from 1993 through 1996. He currently is an Adjunct Lecturer in Estate Planning for the West Virginia University College of Law.
