Twelve Huddleston Bolen practice areas received "first-tier" rankings, the highest ranking possible, in the new U.S. News - Best Lawyers 2010 "Best Law Firms" ranking. The practice areas recognized by US News and Best Lawyers are: Banking and Finance Law, Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, Corporate Law, Employment Law – Management, Insurance Law, Labor Law – Management, Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Defendants, Mergers & Acquisitions Law, Oil & Gas Law, Railroad Law, Real Estate Law, and Trusts & Estates Law.
Corporate Counsel "Go-To Law Firm"
Corporate Counsel magazine named Huddleston Bolen LLP a "Go-To Law Firm" in the areas of litigation and labor and employment law in both the 2008 and 2009 editions. According to Corporate Counsel, less than one half of 1% of all law firms in the world are included in the magazine’s "Go-To Law Firm" list.
The magazine's publishers say that the list is limited to those law firms that general counsel at the world’s leading 500 companies rely upon routinely and for the most critical matters. Huddleston Bolen was nominated by two long-standing clients, CSX and Norfolk Southern.
Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition 2010
Scott Sheets named to the 2010 Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition in the area of Labor and Employment Law. Scott joins Richard Bolen and Tom Gilpin, who were named in the areas of Energy and Natural Resources, and Chris Plybon, who was named in the area of Real Estate.

In 2010, fourteen Huddleston Bolen lawyers were recognized in the publications, West Virginia Super Lawyers and West Virginia Rising Stars. Lawyers were recognized in: Transportation, Energy and Natural Resources, Business Litigation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Real Estate, Employment and Labor, Estate Planning and Probate, Insurance Coverage, Civil Litigation Defense, Class Action/Mass Torts, and Personal Injury Defense.

Eight Huddleston Bolen partners and four practice areas were recognized in the Chambers USA 2010 Guide: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Selected for individual recognition were:

Best Lawyers 2010
Nearly 40% of the lawyers at Huddleston Bolen were listed in the publication, The Best Lawyers in America 2010. Nineteen attorneys representing all of the firm's offices in Huntington and Charleston, West Virginia and Ashland and Louisville, Kentucky were recognized.
Moreover, the firm was ranked the number 1 law firm in the nation in Railroad Law, and named the number 1 firm in both Kentucky and West Virginia in Railroad Law. The firm was also named Number 1 in West Virginia in Securities Law, Mass Tort Litigation, Product Liability Litigation, and Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law. In total, the firm was top ranked in 32 individual categories.
The individual accomplishments of several of the firm's lawyers are also notable. Marc Williams was listed in eight categories, the highest number of categories of any lawyer in the State. Bob Massie was listed in five categories and J. H. Mahaney, Tom Murray, and Andrew Zettle were all listed in three categories. Mr. Murray also has the distinction of having been recognized in Best Lawyers for 14 consecutive years.

Best Lawyers honored Bruce Stout as the “Charleston, WV Best Lawyers Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year” for 2010. Mr. Stout heads the firm's Trust and Estate Practice, representing clients out of the firm's Huntington and Charleston, West Virginia offices. Best Lawyers is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.
